The Ping Anser Forged Irons is in line with a typical mainstream release in the Japanese market with a focus on the average golfer wanting a forged iron. Clubs in Japan are typically more expensive than other parts of the world, and picky Japanese golfers are more than willing to put down their yen for the latest and greatest forged iron.
The discount Ping Anser Forged Irons represents the very best of Ping¡¯s commitment to design and technology. Built to appeal to all golfers, and already in use of the PGA Tour, the Ping Anser Forged a forged, and cavity back iron made from multi-materials.
The new Anser, a forged multi-material iron, is designed to raise Ping¡¯s profile among avid single-digit handicappers in Japan, Korea and other Asian markets. Of course, Ping with golf clubs irons expects its share of converts in the States, too. The U.S. version, for the record, has an identical head design as the Asian model(Cheap golf clubs), the same shaft length, a 1-degree weaker loft per club, and the Project X shaft. As expected, the clubhead materials and overall design package contribute to a softer, quieter impact sensation. The ping anser forged irons clubface is thick behind the hitting area, similar to a muscleback blade, while a "support bar" (just below the oval "custom tuning port") connects the face to the back flange.

I spoke to a couple of reps at the Ping booth and they explained that they did not want to classify the Anser forged as a players cavity or or game improvement iron. The concept is a premium forged iron that is easy to hit for all levels of players. Not compact like a players/athlete model but not overly large like a GI model, rather something right in between that could provide something for everyone.
